Making payments to the Family Law Courts

The Family Law Courts accept the following types of payment:

Payment type
Instructions
Cheque or money order
Make payable to the ‘Collector of Public Monies’
Cash or debit card Only accepted if paid in person
Credit card Visa and Mastercard, accepted in person or by mail


Credit cards are accepted for Applications for Divorce filed electronically through the Commonwealth Courts Portal (www.comcourts.gov.au). 

Things to remember   

  • If you are making a payment for the Court to find and copy documents, allow 7-10 working days from receipt of your payment to the delivery of your documents. This does not include mail time.
  • When collecting documents in person, a receipt of payment must be shown before the documents will be provided.
  • If you are paying with a credit card through the mail, you must complete the Credit Card Payment Form. 

Two forms you may need when making a payment

Document request form
This form is to be used when you require the Court to find and copy documents for you. If your documents have been archived, they will have to be recalled. This service takes time and involves an additional fee. You must call 1300 352 000 to confirm the total payment required.

Credit card payment form
This form must be included with any mailed application or request when you pay by credit card. Please do not fax this form unless you have been directly requested to do so by the Court.

You MUST call 1300 352 000 before filling in either of these forms to confirm the total payment required.
